Weaving Workshop
About the Workshop
Using an in-house-designed table loom, participants will have the opportunity to practice basic weaving techniques and create a small collection of samples. The sessions will also introduce tapestry weaving techniques and fibre art. Additionally, the workshops will incorporate storytelling within craft, showcasing traditional patterns, motifs, and symbols that narrate a story or convey a message. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own patterns or symbols and integrate them into their work.
Focus on Process
This 4-session workshop will focus on the process rather than the final product, embracing the delicate and complex nature of weaving. Hand weaving is a highly-specialised craft which requires passion and dedication. It is an art form that takes years to master with a never-ending learning practice. This starter session on textile techniques wishes to spark creativity and educate participants on the intricacy of woven cloth.
This winter workshop will take place in our downstairs studio, surrounded by materials and samples.

This workshop marks the beginning of our spring workshop series and will be followed by a more in-depth weaving session taking place in May.
