VERNACULAR EARTH-BUILDING | CONTEMPORARY ART | POLLINATOR CONSERVATION

DESCRIPTION

Three nature trails in the Pitsilia Region of Troodos, are transformed into spaces for contemporary artistic creation, where ecological awareness meets traditional knowledge and the cultural heritage of Cyprus. The starting point of the action is the traditional “Tzivertia”, the clay beehives that were used in Cyprus until the early 20th century and are an important element of the local beekeeping tradition.

Through artistic walks and experiential workshops, participants will get to know the natural materials of the place, collect clay, stone and plant fibers and contribute to the creation of sculptural installations that function both as works of art and as habitats for the native bees of Cyprus. The action highlights the relationship between man and nature, creating a meaningful dialogue between ecology, local tradition and contemporary artistic expression.
