The old Hilton hotel in Nicosia, holds historical significance and has witnessed various events throughout its existence. The hotel was built in 1967 and opened its doors to guests shortly afterward.
At that time, it was considered a modern and luxurious hotel, catering to international visitors and playing a significant role in the city's hospitality industry.
Designed in a modernist architectural style, the hotel featured spacious rooms, elegant interiors, and contemporary amenities for its time.
The hotel's bold shapes, structural elements and minimalist approach, have found their way into contemporary designs, shaping various creative disciplines and lending a touch of elegance and modernity to new creations.
Inspired by the clean lines, geometric shapes and sharp angles found in the hotel's architecture, the Woven Interlace designs reflect the aesthetic of the original building, seeking to evoke a sense of elegance and simplicity.
Colour palette extracted from the interior design development with an emphasis on the guest room fittings.
Final woven interlace designs made in oak solid wood and woven in mercerised cotton fibers, using a custom palette.
The successful design was chosen as the singular elongated interlace drawing inspiration from the hotel’s façade, reflecting its strong grid lines and sharp angles. The design will be meticulously reproduced by hand to adorn the guest rooms of the hotel.
